The Hokey Pokey by Jeff Brechlin in the Style of William Shakespeare (meme)

The Hokey Pokey by Jeff Brechlin in the Style of William Shakespeare

This poem of sorts be from the Washington Post Style Invitational contest which asked their readers to submit "instructions" for something (anything), yet to be written in the style o' a famous person.
The winning entry was the following: The Hokey Pokey (as written by William Shakespeare).

O proud left foot, that ventures quick within
Then soon upon a backward journey lithe.
Anon, once more the gesture, then begin:
Command sinistral pedestal to writhe.
Commence thou then the fervid Hokey-Poke,
A mad gyration, hips in wanton swirl.
To spin! A wilde release from Heavens yoke.
Blessed dervish! Surely canst go, girl.
The Hoke, the poke — banish now thy doubt
Verily, I say, 'tis what it's all about.

Disclaimer: Hopefully, to the best of my current knowledge I've cited & credited the sources of these. If there are any inaccuracies, please comment them below.
Despite the popular meme trends of the Hokey Pokey Shakespeare meme of this poem, to my knowledge this was NOT written by William Shakespeare, but Jeff Brechlin for a contest in the Washington Post.
If I have reported this incorrectly, I apologize. To my knowledge/research this seems to be the case.
I believe firmly in citing & crediting where it is due, and have not intentionally tried to commit any sort of wrong doing, nor ill will of either party mentioned.
I merely liked the witty, quirky, creativity of the composition, and wished to share it.

I found this incredibly great LIVE performance version video of this track "Andro" by "Faun" (Germany) as the band mentions in the beginning, it's a rather magical feeling sound, rather whimsical, and yet Earthy!

Classic track "Forever" by "Dee Dee" which was a popular rave track from 2002 (Europe). Back then everyone would refer to this dance style as just "Eurodance" and in the USA we could just call it "techno", but today no one can seem to agree on what to call it. I've heard this called "trance" but I wouldn't consider this as trance myself. I've also heard this style called "hard trance", Euro trance", Eurodance trance".

I Can Dance If I Want To!

We can dance if we want to!
We can leave your friends behind!
'Cause your friends don't dance, and if they don't dance,
Well they're no friends of mine!
I say, we can go where we want to
A place where they will never find
And we can act like we come from out of this world
Leave the real one far behind,
And we can dance
Dance!

We can go when we want to
The night is young and so am I
And we can dress real neat from our hats to our feet
And surprise 'em with the victory cry!
Say, we can act if want to!
If we don't nobody will
And you can act real rude, and totally removed,
And I can act like an imbecile!

I say, we can dance, we can dance!
Everything out of control!
We can dance, we can dance
We're doing it from wall to wall
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody look at your hands
We can dance, we can dance
Everybody takin' the cha-a-a-ance

Safety dance!
Is it safe to dance!
Is it safe to dance!
